The Lottery (Tale Blazers) - Shirley Jackson This was way too short, I read it in an instant and I felt frustrated that it ended so soon. The story is presumably Shirley Jackson's most famous, and it definitely sparked my interest for her other short stories.
I'm usually aware of what I'm reading, but this time I knew nothing, neither about the writer nor about the story, so it was quite a pleasant surprise.
Reading about a lottery in the town square, with all the people attending, made me fearful of already knowing the ending, thanks to Hunger Games. It was not like that, but somehow Suzanne Collins spoiled it for me...
